The Next Project
1956 Ford Pickup - small window

1956 Ford, Big Window Pick-Up, Created on Overhaulin’
This truck was purchased by Chip’s father, Sam Foose, in 1968. Chip learned to
drive in this truck; he also had his first car accident in it, colliding with a
Rolls-Royce and a Porsche in one fell swoop! (Chip still has the Rolls-Royce
grill shell – it is on display elsewhere in the exhibit). Recently, the truck
was “stolen” for an Overhaulin’ episode, and transformed by Sam Foose and the
Overhaulin’ crew. The modifications made included (from front to back):
“Pie-cutting” and “wedging” the hood, slicing the cab and tilting it forward.
The team dropped a Roush Racing aluminum Ford 427 (serial number 1) motor in the
engine bay. They moved the front axles forward eight inches and reshaped the
fender openings. The running boards were shortened the rear fenders were widened
2.5 inches. The bed was shortened and the tailgate was given a stamped Foose
logo. The truck was finished off with a new black paint job, a custom leather
interior by Bill Dunn, and a set of one-off wheels.
It's a little rough but I think it will make a nice daily driver.
It will have a TCI chassis, Curry 9" Ford rearend and a 460 big block with a C-6 tranny
